Spring: Coming Soon!!

Hello again all,
With spring arriving in a few months I just wanted to make sure and go over a couple debated topics the first, is the topic of: shorts. While most people don't exactly go all out tank-tops and shorts at the first sign of winter residing, its still best to start remembering.

Rule Number 1: Just because it was OK last year doesn't mean it will work this year. Now, granted most of us know this rule, but, I just wanted to make sure we are on the same page with this.

Rule Number 2: short-shorts are a no-go, It's like a friend of mine so eloquently put it," If your underwear are longer than your shorts, something's wrong." Now most of the popular short-shorts are about 3-5 inches of actual jean material long and the latest style with the pocket fabric showing underneath just makes matters worse. So please do everyone a favor and go knee-length, and no shorter than mid-thigh but that is really pushing it.

So again just to recap, try it on if its from previous years just to make sure, and absolutely avoid short-shorts.

Purity in Attitude

Hello All,
I wanted to write about something near and dear to my heart today. Purity in attitude. I see this everywhere as a teenage girl, in schools, at malls, and even in churches. Granted this really bothers me but let me explain why. In my opinion a girl can be modest in every aspect of her life but if she lacks modesty in her attitude then, in my book, she is officially not modest. Now, we've all seen it, you walk by a group of girls talking to a couple of guys and the girls are acting all flirty and super-friendly. Now even as a passer-by a single look at one these girls and a person can tell by their body-language, the tone of voice they use when talking, their gestures etc. exactly what they are doing. This, I must say, bothers me a great deal, because, I know in my head and my heart that every one of those girls and every one of those guys have a single wife or a single husband that God has planned especially for them. If not, if they were made to stay single, then, acting like this (girls) or watching this (guys or vs) is wrong and goes against His plan. I personally would like to, as a Christian, stay as close to His plan for me as I can. Now, granted, I expect that I'm going to mess up sometimes, but, the reasons I never want to be one of those flirty girls are: 1.) I know what it makes a guy thinks when a girl acts like that (thanks to The Modesty Rebelution I've heard it from the guys themselves). 2.) I want no part of making a fellow man Christian or not sin. 3.) I see acting like that as betraying my husband God has for especially for me.

As you can see I am very opinionated on this subject, but, I think as girls we have a responsibility to our fellow man not to conscientiously trip him up. Now, obviously, the men themselves are responsible form their own thoughts and if they still think like that even when we as women are not to blame then that is between them and God. Personally, I would like to know, though, that I have a clear conscience (to the best of my ability) on this topic. So just start by observing, that's what I did. Remember to watch for this (immorality in attitude) as you go to school, go shopping, or whatever you're doing. Then look for it in your own life, watch yourself as you are talking to guys, ( or vs) think about your motives in the conversation. Is it just a friendly chat? Or is there another underlying motive? Remember Modesty, like many things, involves inner motives. (and work)  ;)

Please Think On This. :)

This Blog

I created this blog to question the definition of beauty in women. My personal definition conflicts with that of society’s definition of beautiful. This blog is meant to compare and contrast the differences in society’s opinion and my opinion, which I draw from the Bible. In my opinion, beauty is mainly from within, I value modesty, humility, and generosity, more than I value hairstyles, make-up, and clothes. I am not by any means saying I don’t use any of these, or like them, but I’m saying that I value modesty,  and humility more. Many people would say, "Oh no that’s not me, my life doesn’t revolve around such superficial things." At first I am the same way, but as I’ve learned so far in life not everything is as easy as it appears. For example you may not center your life around make-up or facials, but what I am getting at is the actual root ideals behind them. Meaning I want to know why, why are we told we need certain things to be beautiful? Is it just the money-hungry make-up and hair corporations? I beg to differ. The power is in the hands of the people. If we all felt the same way about a certain product, the business would go under. So if this is the case that only leaves, me, whose buying the things.  It seems to only leave us as consumers to blame for the trends. I say this because if we consumers didn’t like something (say ‘70s clothes) it wouldn’t be on the market. Why then do we promote shorts shorter than underwear, shirts so low there’s nothing you can’t see and clothes tighter than our own skin? Is it because we like it? I would like to hear someone else’s opinion here besides just mine.

Please remember that here at Pura Bellus Femina refraining from using any kind of profanity and unsavory language would be much appreciated  as this blog was made to build up Godly, modest women. Not to tear anyone down.
